“Gamma Sigma, by its example, upholds that most fundamental precept of our Nation that all men are equal without regard to race, religion, or national origin.”

Hubert Humphrey

It’s all Greek to me

Many students enter college wondering what exactly this fraternity phenomenon is. For many it is just a place to party, but fraternities are much more than that. A fraternity is a family that you have when away from home. At Gamma Sigma you have the opportunity to lead and be a part of something bigger than yourself. We have members from all walks of life: catholic, jewish, muslim, black, white, asian, gay, straight, republican, and democrat. Fraternities offer a place to actually manage something. Not only that, but they have great networking opportunities and job movement. Getting a degree is a great step forward, but knowing the right people to get you a career is just as important.

Why Gamma Sigma?

We at Gamma Sigma believe that the fraternal system is out of control. Wether it be hazing or rampant alcoholism, the fraternal system today has been a emphasized with human degradation and discriminatory selectivity. At our founding no fraternity or sorority  would accept Jewish members, causing a segregated greek system. Our founding fathers thought religion is not a key of separation, and included Jewish members to much anger from national organizations. Unlike other fraternities, we are proud of our history. We have always stood as pioneers at Rutgers and continue to develop a membership based on social progress.

Do you have what it takes?

Unlike the other fraternities, we are not affiliated with the university. This actually is very good for us. We are less likely to be bossed around by stringent University policies. Also we actually own the house we reside in. Being a member of Gamma is being a shareholder in a nineteenth century historical property. Already recognized by Rutgers Officials as a historically significant organization is credit enough for us.

People with an open mind and hard workers are the best suited for Gamma Sigma. Male or Female, first semester or senior year...all people are eligible. We are looking for people who want to make a difference in their community, who fight against all forms of discrimination, and believe that all men are created equal.

Join us for Rush Week or come by to our house to say hello. We are always looking for potential great members.
